About the Role:
An established organisation is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Project Cost Controller to join its Projects Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the management of project costs, budgets, and reporting within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Main Purpose of the Role:
The Assistant Project Cost Controller will assist the Projects Cost Controller in capturing and monitoring all project commitments and expenditures, maintaining accurate cost records, supporting forecasting and reporting activities, and verifying contractor claims and expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
•Capture and record all project commitments using cost control software (e.g. PRISM).
•Integrate accounting cost data into the consolidated project cost database.
•Support the Projects Cost Controller in preparing accruals and forecasts.
•Review supplier and contractor invoices for accuracy and validity.
•Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper tracking of project costs.
•Identify and communicate potential cost variances against approved budgets.
•Collect and analyse cost data from suppliers and contractors.
•Assist in managing contractor relationships to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
•Assess contractor claims and prepare related payment documentation.
•Prepare and present cost reports and progress updates.
•Participate in cost, progress, and contractor meetings as required.
Performance Indicators:
•Accurate and timely updates of cost control data.
•Reliable and consistent contractor account reconciliations.
•Timely reporting and forecasting of project costs.
•Early detection and communication of cost variances.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Business Management, Economics, or a related field.
•Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel and Word essential).
•Valid driver’s license (for occasional travel requirements).
Experience:
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a quantity surveying or project cost control role.
•Exposure to mechanical and electrical project works is an advantage.
•Experience with cost control software such as PRISM, PRIMAVERA, or CANDY preferred.
•Proven experience assessing contractor claims and managing project cost data.
