KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

COMMUNITY RELATIONS 

Community Engagement: 

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company, its Community Liaisons (CLOs), and the surrounding businesses, residents, and community leaders.
  • Work closely with CLOs to gather feedback and information on project objectives, community needs, and social concerns.
  • Work closely with CLOs to integrate ESG considerations into community outreach efforts and ensure that volunteer and community initiatives reflect the company’s sustainability goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community members, traditional leaders, and organizations, focusing on fostering sustainable and ethical partnerships.
  • Coordinate and lead community meetings, events, and forums to facilitate feedback, address concerns, and ensure community involvement.
  • Identify and initiate opportunities for community development projects and partnerships that align with both the company’s business objectives and ESG principles.
  • Collaborate with CLOs and other stakeholders to plan, fund, and implement projects such as infrastructure improvements, educational programs, and economic development.
  • Measure and report the impact of programs, ensuring that the community sees tangible benefits from the company’s investments. 

Community & Public Relations: 

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to highlight the company’s commitment and contributions to community development.
  • Oversee responses to inquiries, complaints, and feedback.
  • Work with the External Relations & Communications team to create content for press releases, newsletters, and social media, emphasizing the company’s initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that ongoing and upcoming projects are communicated effectively to the community. 

Government & Regulatory Relations: 

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and other agencies to ensure that the company’s operations meet local, regional, and national ESG standards.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes that may affect community engagement or the company’s ESG initiatives, ensuring the company’s projects comply with relevant laws and policies. 

Crisis Management: 

  • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies in collaboration with CLOs, particularly for emergencies or issues that may impact the community or the company’s reputation.
  • Manage community responses during crises, ensuring that the company’s actions are transparent, aligned with ESG values, and address the concerns of local stakeholders. 

Reports & Documentation: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases on community stakeholders, such as traditional leaders, government agencies, and other relevant parties.
  • Oversee the preparation, audit, and review of community relations reports, ensuring they align with both legal requirements and the company’s reporting standards (e.g., LVD reports, WRC reports, Pipeline Survey reports). 


FINANCE  

  • Lead the preparation of the monthly budget.
  • Develop and manage all budget items, including cost control and expenditure forecasting.
  • Ensure the budget is in line with the department’s scheduled activities.  

 

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT  

  • Supervise the team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget.
  • Develop and implement necessary measures to ensure flexible work practice and team building.
  • Carry out performance appraisals and development plans (including training) with subordinate staff.
  • Implement training and development program for staff in line with the organization’s technical and business needs.
  • Coordinate the rotational schedule (on and off duty) of subordinate staff.  


 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Development Studies, or any related field.
  • Master's degree in related field is mandatory.
  • Multicultural experience is mandatory.
  • Fluency in Twi is mandatory. Fluency in other local languages (e.g., Ga, Ewe, Fante) is a plus. 
  • Certifications in ESG are a plus.


 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: 

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in community relations, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of community dynamics, needs assessments, and stakeholder analysis.
  • Familiarity with organizing public forums, volunteer programs, and educational events
  • Understanding of CSR principles and how they integrate with community initiatives.
  • Knowledge of local government operations and regulatory environments.
