KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



ENGINEERING

Design Management:

  • Oversee and manage all engineering design activities, including conceptual, FEED (Front End Engineering Design), basic, and detailed design phases:
  • Advanced Process Control (APC). 
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS). 
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). 
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). 
  • Oversee the conceptualization, detailed design, and engineering calculations, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, codes, and standards: 
  • Design Documents. 
  • Hazardous Area Calculations. 
  • I/O Schedules. 
  • Loop Diagrams. 
  • Layout Drawings. 
  • Interconnection and Wiring Diagrams. 
  • Review Authorized For Construction drawings (AFCs), P&IDs, and commissioning checklists. 
  • Review all Red Lines and As Built Drawings to confirm accuracy and compliance with original designs and modifications. 
  • Ensure that warranty and punch list issues are effectively managed after commissioning. 
  • Implement and follow timelines, build detailed Gantt charts.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate the integration of multidisciplinary design disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil) to achieve cohesive project execution.
  • Ensure that all designs are optimized for cost, efficiency, and operability while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Review and approve design changes, deviations, and design risk assessments.
  • Manage the preparation of engineering schedules, budgets, and manpower forecasts, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
  • Monitor project progress against key milestones and design deliverables, identifying and mitigating risks or delays.

 

Project Leadership & Coordination:

  • Act as the main point of contact for all design-related aspects of the project, collaborating closely with project managers, engineering teams, and clients.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as procurement, business development, and operations to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance as needed for the Operations & Maintenance teams on-site.
  • Ensure design teams are adequately resourced and managed to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices.



Client and Stakeholder Management:

  • Interface with clients, vendors, and external stakeholders to understand design requirements, present technical solutions, and address concerns.
  • Provide technical support during client meetings, offering design solutions that align with the client's objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the design team delivers designs that are practical, sustainable, and meet client expectations.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical proposals and presentations for potential clients.



Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify design risks early in the project and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that all design work adheres to relevant industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety codes.
  • Manage the design review process, ensuring compliance with both internal and external regulatory requirements.



Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and design innovations, integrating these advancements into project work as appropriate.
  • Drive the adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve design efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate design performance and propose improvements for future projects.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Supervise the team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget. 
  • Develop and implement necessary measures to ensure flexible work practice and team building. 
  • Carry out performance appraisals and development plans (including training) with subordinate staff. 
  • Implement training and development program for staff in line with the organization’s technical and business needs.
  • Coordinate the rotational schedule (on and off duty) of subordinate staff. 



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) is mandatory.
  • Master's degree is mandatory.
  • Multicultural experience is mandatory.

 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering (power systems) in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams in the execution of complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, ANSI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with design software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PDS, Revit, etc.).
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Proven experience to establish and oversee management of change (MOC) procedures.
  • Experience with Installation, Commissioning and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
