Mine Operations Superintendent:

The Mine Operations Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of daily mine operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. This role involves supervising production crews, coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement across mining activities.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

  • Oversee day-to-day mine operations including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and waste management.
  • Supervise and provide direction to frontline supervisors and mine operators.
  • Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor production targets and KPIs, and implement strategies to meet or exceed goals.
  • Collaborate with mine planning, engineering, and maintenance teams to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and regular communication.
  • Manage budgets and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to operational staff.
  • Support development and implementation of short- and long-term mine plans.

 

Qualifications/Skills and Experience:

  • Masters’s degree in Mine or Geology Engineering, or bachelor’s degree in Mine or Geology Engineering + relative years of work experience.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years in mining operations, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Strong knowledge of open-pit or underground mining methods and equipment.
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with mine planning software and operational systems.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a remote or camp-based environment.



Working Conditions:

  • Position based at the OKO Project site.
  • Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off
  • Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
