Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
- Supervise day-to-day activities of new and experienced haul truck operators during training and production.
- Deliver hands-on and classroom-based training in the safe operation of haul trucks according to site procedures and OEM standards.
- Conduct operator assessments, ride-alongs, and evaluations to verify competency and identify training needs.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective guidance to improve operator performance and promote best practices.
- Monitor compliance with haul road rules, loading and dumping protocols, and pit traffic management.
- Work with the Mine Training Coordinator to schedule and document training activities and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in the development and revision of training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and competency profiles.
- Support the onboarding and orientation of new hires and contractors operating mobile equipment.
- Participate in incident investigations and recommend retraining as needed.
- Promote a strong safety culture by leading by example and reinforcing safe behaviors.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience:
- Technical diploma in mining with heavy equipment operation training + relative years of work experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience operating haul trucks in a mining environment with 2+ years of experience in a training, lead hand, or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of surface mine safety practices, equipment operation standards, and traffic control.
- Experience with different haul truck types.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Office and/or training record systems.
Working Conditions:
- Position based at the OKO Project site.
- Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off
