The Market Developer is responsible for driving cement sales through the retail channel within an assigned region. The role focuses on developing, managing, and growing an active network of cement retailers, ensuring product availability, achieving monthly sales targets, maintaining price discipline, and strengthening relationships with distributors and retailers to grow market share.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Market Developer plays a critical role in expanding the company’s retail footprint by recruiting, developing, and supporting cement retailers operating from shops or containers. The position requires consistent field engagement, sales aggregation, market intelligence gathering, and close collaboration with sales representatives, distributors, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient product distribution, competitive pricing, and high customer satisfaction. The role also includes training shop attendants, monitoring competitor activity, and executing marketing initiatives at the regional level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Volume Aggregation
Aggregate sales volumes from multiple retailers to enable efficient ordering and delivery by Sales Representatives through distributors.
Retailer Visits & Relationship Management
Conduct regular visits to all retailers within the assigned territory.
Strengthen relationships, gather market feedback, and address retailer concerns promptly.
Monthly Sales Target Achievement
Achieve or exceed the assigned monthly sales target for cement bags through the retail channel.
Apply effective sales techniques to drive consistent volume growth.
Customer Satisfaction
Maintain high levels of satisfaction among retailers and distributors.
Resolve issues efficiently to sustain long-term business relationships.
Retailer Development
Recruit, develop, and manage a target number of retailers purchasing a minimum of 900 bags per month.
Provide ongoing support, guidance, and incentives to help retailers meet and sustain volume targets.
Price Management
Ensure retail prices remain within the approved target range.
Monitor competitor pricing and market dynamics to support informed pricing decisions.
Market Analysis & Reporting
Provide timely and accurate reports on market trends, competitor activities, and growth opportunities.
Offer insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
Shop Attendant Training
Train shop attendants on products and basic bookkeeping practices to improve product knowledge and sales performance.
Product Availability
Ensure consistent availability of products within the assigned circuit.
Collaborate with distributors and supply chain teams to maintain optimal inventory levels.
Marketing Collaboration & Execution
Work closely with the marketing team to support the development and execution of regional marketing initiatives.
Provide feedback on campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.
